Knit Amigurumi Pattern Book

Do you know someone who is a big amigurumi collector or someone who always admires your amigurumi creations? Why not give them the awesome gift of learning to make amigurumi too?

These pattern books make the perfect gift for both beginner and advanced crocheters. I know I LOVE receiving pattern books as gifts. It expands my skills and gives me new and exciting amigurumi projects to work on. One of my favorite gifts I have ever received was a ball of yarn and a pattern book. I even made the yarn into a little critter that I gifted back to the person who gave the present to me as a thank you.

This adorable little amigurumi angel doll would make a great gift or a cute Christmas decoration. It measures about 6 inches tall in worsted weight yarn or you could make it with sport weight yarn and a smaller hook to make it small enough to use as a tree ornament or gift decoration. This would be perfect to give  in the amigurumi gift bag.

how do you make/do crocheted amigurumi?

October 252009

Posted in amigurumi | 1 Comment »

i really want to learn.can you post a link of a website or video showing me how to do it?Thanks.PLEASE ANSWERR.I LOVE THOSE LITTLE THINGYS.If you don’t know a link,can you tell me how and what you need then?

If you’re into Japanese crafts, you’ve probably at least seen photos of Japanese amigurumi books (if you haven’t, check these out). They’re beautiful, and the dolls are adorable. Amigurumi means "knitted or crocheted doll" in Japanese. Here’s everything you wanted to know about amigurumi but couldn’t find out because you don’t read Japanese:

* Amigurumi, Deconstructed
Tips and tricks about how to make some fab dolls
* Amigurumi Double Ring
A photo tutorial on how to start working in the round without making a hole (similar to the Magic Adjustable Ring, but different)
* Assembling Amigurumi
A photo tutorial on attaching the head and body of amigurumi dolls.
* Amigurumi Dude Pattern
Make your own amigurumi dude.
* Gallery of Amigurumi Dudes
Crochet me designers went nuts making their own dudes, all from the same pattern. Want to share photos of your own Amigurumi Dudes? Join the Flickr group.

Amigurumi spiral crochet?

October 172009

Posted in amigurumi | 2 Comments »

I’m trying to learn how to make amigurumi but I’m feeling very discouraged. I know basic stitches (i think) but whenever I try to start the spiral I end up with a knot. I can’t even figure out how to do the first step (ch 2, 5 sc in second ch from hook) help please!

Man, this is so hard to describe over the internet! Have you ever made rounds before? Most of what you are doing with amigurumi is shaping the body of your creature by making a round, increasing and decreasing to make the different features. It seems like a really wussy way to answer the question, but the truth is that someone who knows how to do it could show you in thirty seconds what I can’t even find a single really good website to try to show you!

This "for dummies" one is the diagram best I can find. It is pretty much how my Mom taught me.

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/crocheting-in-circles.html

Also, there is a really awesome video on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWHPZrrzpmY

I sincerely hope this helps. I know how frustrating it is to try to figure out things on your own. Every new crocheter really needs a coach to get them started!

There, are, btw, some really cute free patterns on the lion brand website. You have to sign up, but they are free.

Good luck!
