i am a beginner, this is my first time attempting amigurumi so i need an easy pattern.
-no PDF files
i have a size J hook

Here are some sites with free patterns so you will have to make a choice as to what you want to make. regrding the J hook it only means that the product may be a bit bigger than the instructions sheets say. Have fun they are cute.

how do you do amigurumi for beginners?

like what kind of crohet stick do you need/ size

usually the pattern you are following will tell you what size hook to use. like this pattern http://stitch.hellooperator.net/free-patterns/amigurumi-doll/calls for 3mm and 3.5 mm hooks. i think it's common to need more than one size hook to complete a project like this. here is another good crochet website

I've been searching and searching, but I can't seem to find one.

I'd never heard of this, but I love to crochet, so I'm glad I saw your question.

I did a quick Clusty search using the word "amigurumi," and here's a sample of what I found:

How is amigurumi different from regular crocheting?

March 252009

Posted in amigurumi | 5 Comments »

Amigurumi is very, very similar to regular crochet. You use the same stitches, tools and techniques.

The only real difference between the two is that in amigurumi you usually use a smaller hook than you would for regular crochet with a given yarn. So if the yarn label says to use a an 8mm hook, you'd use a 6mm or something similar. Using an undersized hook allows you to make a stiffer and tighter fabric to hold in the stuffing of the body parts for your doll. You can use the given hook size for creating parts that will not be stuffed like clothes and accessories.

In amigurumi you can often get away with using cheaper acrylic yarns. Since an amigurumi isn't going to be worn, it doesn't have to be cuddly soft. These less expensive yarns come in lots of colors, make a nice stiff fabric for shaping dolls, and are easily available. Of course you can make an amigurumi out of cashmere yarn if your heart desires, but you'll often have the same or better luck with a less expensive yarn.

How can I teach myself to make amigurumi?

I don’t even know how to crochet yet.

):

You’ll need to pick up basic crochet skills and then you can take off. You can get lots of basic crochet instruction on the net, or just go to your local library. Play around a little, and learn how patterns are written, and then you can start.
You can also check around to see if there are informal crochet or knitting groups that meet at local libraries, coffee shops, or homes; people there will be happy to help you and may even already have materials or patterns they can lend or give you.

Posted in amigurumi | 2 Comments »

Hello.

I want to Crochet Pac-Man and Ghosts. (Here are the instructions: http://fulloffluff.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/crochered_pacman.pdf )

The only problem is that I have no idea how to construct an amigurumi double ring. Would anyone tell me how to to construct one, or give me a link to instructions for this?

Thanks so much.

the link to making the amigurumi double ring is in the link you provided for the pac-man
its in the 1st coulmn under the second set of instructions, where it tells you how to make the pac man itself
