most amigurumi starts with a circle. crochet 3 stitches, in third chain from hook make 5 single crochet into center.
make a single crochet into the top of the chain 2, and mark it with a piece of different colored yarn. make another single crochet into the chain 2, and 2 single crochet in every sc around.. You are working in a spiral, so you do not join every round with a slip stitch, you just continue crocheting around. that is why you have your marker, to remind you of the first stithc of the round.
next round you do 2 sc in next stitch, one sc in next stitch, 2 in the next stitch, one in the next around.
if the circle you have made is big enough, you crochet even, one sc in each sc around. If you want to go bigger you increase in every 3rd stitch, then every 4th stitch.
